What to Consider When Buying a Seiko
Movement type: Seiko offers quartz, solar-quartz, and automatic. Solar is set-and-forget — never needs a battery and recharges from any light source. Automatic is for enthusiasts who appreciate mechanical watchmaking; the 4R and 6R calibres are reliable everyday workhorses.

Water resistance: Prospex divers are rated 200m and ISO-certified for actual diving. Most Seiko 5 Sports models are 100m — fine for swimming and rain, not scuba.
